David Marquez serves as the Executive Director of Economic Development for Bexar County, Texas, home to the City of San Antonio, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas and 23 automotive suppliers, as well as the world headquarters for AT&T, Valero, Tesoro, USAA, Clear Channel Communications, H-E-B and Rackspace. In his executive position for the Bexar County governmental entity, Mr. Marquez directs efforts to develop and improve the local and regional economy. This is achieved through domestic and international business development programs, and various other initiatives.
Mr. Marquez has been successful with overseas business recruitment
from Japan (Higuchi) and is currently engaged in on-going
recruitment efforts in China. He serves on the Board of Directors
for the San Antonio Free Trade Alliance and Biomed SA, as well as on
San Antonio’s China Steering Committee.
Prior to his role at the County, Mr. Marquez worked at the San
Antonio Air Logistics Center, serving as a project leader for
several total quality improvement and strategic planning efforts.
Mr. Marquez holds a Masters degree in Urban Administration from
Trinity University (1998). Since 1999, he has served as a professor
for the University of the Incarnate Word teaching business courses
in management, strategic planning and analysis.
